With such a broad spectrum of visual display options using vivid colors and eye catching imagery, this is a form of advertising that has taken off in popularity as well as financial rewards for advertisers over the past several years. You too can have the traffic and customer base that you have been longing for, all with a little help of a strong rich media advertising campaign that is catered to your needs, goals and of course your budget.

Rich Media Advertising

What Is Rich Media Advertising?

Basically speaking, rich media advertising uses a wide variety of ads in order to get the word out there about a client's products and/or services. These ads can include everything from animation, video and audio or a combination to produce entertaining and educating visuals to attract clients and potential customers. Additionally, this form of advertising is just perfect when you not only want to attract customers but you also want to be sure that you can track interactions including the number of times that your ads are viewed or even the times of the visits.

In order to better understand some of the different types of rich media advertising commonly used today, you may want to familiarize yourself with the popular options that are available. Common types of rich media advertising will generally be in-page ads, out-of page ads and even in-stream ads.

  • In-Page Ads - These types of in-page ads usually show up in various areas of a web page in the form of a rectangle or preset banner.
  • Out-Of Page Ads - There are a number of types of out-of page ads, all of which will show up on the outside of your standard-style web page.
    • Floating Ads: You may have been to a website where ads will move across the page in the form of a reminder or even start off as a floating ad and then turn into an in-page ad. These floating ads will usually show up in the form of a layer over the top of a current page that the viewer has up.
    • Pop-Up Ads: It seems as though everyone has seen pop-up ads from time to time. Formerly, a very popular form of advertising, these ads will appear by launching a browser window that is smaller than the original user page, popping over the open page. Unfortunately, many website users today have implemented pop-up blocking software that has taken away from the use of this form of advertising today.
    • Expandable Ads - These are ads that will expand as a user rolls their mouse over an ad or clicks on an ad in their browser window.
    • Transitional Ads - Otherwise known as interstitials or between-page ads, these ads usually appear between two pages as a user clicks through while waiting for the next page to load.
  • In-Stream Ads - These are ads that involve either pre or post roll videos. Such ads are generally viewed before or after a user clicks on a video that they wish to view on a publisher's website. The downfall to this form of advertising is that it is more difficult to track hits and user interaction.
